It's the weekend! But before you drown yourself in a sea of beer, wine, coolers and vodka, take a moment to think about your sex life! It’s widely believed that alcohol is a great way to lubricate things for sex, but using it demands that you walk a very fine line.
There is a massive debate around alcohol; how much is too much, what kinds can be good for you in what quantities and what effect it has on people. Simple experience can teach us this much though; a small amount relaxes people, a moderate amount makes people unable to make reasonable, coherent decisions, and too much makes people sick, incapable of any reasonable actions or thought and fainting. However, the levels for each of these vary from person to person and vary from alcohol to alcohol. There are some general things to keep in mind though before reverting to booze to have sex.
A small amount of alcohol can have a positive effect on your sex life. It allows you to loosen up and get rid of your inhibition which is good both for having sex with new partners and for having sex with your usual partner and trying something new in the bedroom. It also has a positive impact on arousal and stimulation; mostly because you won’t be thinking as hard about it! However, after a small amount, the positive impact swiftly falls into the negative impact. Too much alcohol makes it impossible for a man to perform since alcohol wrecks havoc with blood flow and so a man cannot maintain an erection. Women simply cannot be aroused after a certain amount of alcohol and both partners would likely prefer to sleep! If sex is initiated, the odds of engaging in risky behavior go through the roof; everything from trying positions that may lead to injury to having unsafe sex; many children have been conceived out of a drunken night!
Drinking every night or many nights a week has a long term negative impact on your sex life as well. Erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation are closely linked to alcohol as a cause of these problems while women have trouble getting aroused. And of course alcohol abuse is led to kidney and liver problems and weight gain all of which also have a detrimental effect on your sex life.
The key is moderation. A small amount of alcohol once in a while is a great way to burst out of a sexual rut and try new things without worrying about how you look. However, depending on alcohol to have sex damages your health, your sex life and your confidence. Be smart about your alcohol intake and you’ll be able to do a lot more with your sex life.
